INFS6071: Group Assignment
Due: Week 11 (24 October 2025, 2359hrs)
Background
(Assesses: LO1, LO2, LO3, LO4, LO5)
“It is change, continuing change, inevitable change, that is the dominant factor in society today. No sensible decision can be made any longer without taking into account not only the world as it is, but the world as it will be.”— Isaac Asimov.
Scope
This assignment will assess your overall understanding and application of project management cases and analyse and develop a project with associated documentation. This group project aims to consolidate your learning and understanding of the materials presented in lectures and tutorials into running a project with appropriate documents containing requirements, specifications, and models.
This assignment will specifically evaluate your ability to:
- Critically analyse a changing business case and its context.
- Apply appropriate concepts, techniques, and theories relevant to Project Management.
- Develop and implement new processes to expand the current suite of services and operations by delivering benefits to the case and beyond.
- Continually work as a team of business professionals to communicate, analyse, and integrate individual ideas and findings.
- Use Project Management tools to document and analyse the project.
- An appendix of the final assessment must provide member contributions as a RACI matrix.
o If you believe that there were unequal member contributions. You
must review each member’s performance through a self-and peer-assessment 一 link to the form will be on Canvas after assessment submission. The unit coordinator will use this information to understand individual participation and member contribution towards the project. This could also determine if individual marks for the group project are awarded (i.e. members could not necessarily be given the same marks).
You must conduct in-depth research and support your project with additional sources from academic and industry/ practice-based communities. After this assignment, students will have a sound understanding of Project Management core concepts and tools and how they support organisational improvement initiatives.
This is a simulation of a project and consideration of time is important for the project.
Process
To complete this assessment, students will:
- From groups on Canvas, nominate a group leader (who will submit the assessment on Canvas before the due date).
- Read and learn about the fictitious organisation and the supporting materials for the background of the case study on Canvas.
- Engage regularly (weekly) and actively with the AI Chatbot Agent for the case organisation—this Cogniti bot is the project sponsor/Product Owner. And any additional AI Agents (could be stakeholders).
o Keep a record of the conversations – follow the processes for this on canvas.
o Your group must include all conversation logs as an appendix item in your report. There should only be one group member engaged with the AI Agent and this engagement must be at meeting with group members present.
o The group needs to have regular weekly formal meetings with the AI Chatbot Agent – these need to be the same way you would have a meeting in an organisation (agenda/minutes, etc.).
o Any changes the AI Chatbot Agent presents to you during your meetings about the project need to be documented—in the meeting as minutes. (New content will be added to the AI Chatbot Agent each week on the Tuesday morning 一 after the weekly Q&A session on a Monday evening at 6:00pm to 7:30pm.)
o Not having regular group meetings with the AI Chatbot Agent could impact your group’s ability to get all required project information.
- Your project and written document (2,500 +/- 10%) are the final submissions. This length requirement does not include tables, figures, a list of references, a table of contents, or appendices.
The project will follow the prescriptive project design:
• Initiation
• Planning
• Execution (with monitoring and controlling)
• Closure
Students should not jump straight to execution as they may miss details of the project.
